Sheer: The diaphanous creations of Yves Saint-Laurent exhibition

The exhibition Sheer: The diaphanous creations of Yves Saint Laurent will open at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris on February 9 and run until August 25, 2024. It marks the second chapter of a story that began last summer at Calais’ Museum of Lace and Fashion. The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris has invited the curator Anne Dressen to be its artistic advisor and she has chosen to focus on transparency, one of Yves Saint Laurent’s artistic expressions. The exhibition has been designed by Pauline Marchetti, an architect whose work explores the intersection of perception and space.

Fashion on the Move

Until 5 January 2025, the Palais Galliera will be presenting its collections exhibition Fashion on the Move #2. For preventive conservation reasons and also in order to display new works from the museum's collections, this second exhibition will present a history of fashion from the 18th century to the present day, while developing a transversal theme on the body in movement. The Palais Galliera has selected 300 items from its collections to explore the role of special clothing in physical and sports activities as well as the sociological factors reflected in its development.

A Legendary Fashion House and the Birth of Department Stores

In addition to this in-depth look at one of the greatest ever name from world of fashion and on this historical retrospective, two other unmissable exhibitions celebrate a legendary fashion house and the birth of department stores.

The Galerie Dior's new exhibition

La Galerie Dior opened its doors in March 2022 in the heart of 30 Montaigne and is testament to the visionary boldness of Christian Dior and his six successors. It stands apart as a symbol of the Parisian haute couture spirit while preserving the House's history by exhibiting original designs, and exceptional pieces.

La naissance des grands magasins. Mode, Design, Jouets, Publicités, 1852 -1925

An exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts running until 13 October, “La Naissance des grands magasins” celebrates the birth of department stores, which in the mid-19th century became the new temples of modernity and consumerism. Au Bon Marché, Les Grands Magasins du Louvre, Au Printemps, La Samaritaine and Les Galeries Lafayette reveal their facets through history, politics and society, from the Second Empire to their consecration at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. Many of the 700 works from the museum's collections, ranging from posters to clothing, toys and decorative art, provide an insight into the development of Parisian trade from 1852 onwards.
