Exhibition of Royal Goedewaagen at the Glass Library

The Glass Library at the Conservatorium Hotel is showcasing art by Royal Goedewaagen, one of the oldest ceramic factories in Europe. All products are made by hand, nowadays combined with modern production technology. The Heritage collection is a successful implementation of what Goedewaagen strives for: to preserve the goodness of the past while giving it a contemporary look.

Exhibition of Marit Harte at the Glass Library

Marit Harte is an abstract artist who specialises in monochrome, three-dimensional sculptural paintings. Her work is inspired by the five elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Marit’s work embodies a refreshing, organic elegance that aligns beautifully with our hotel’s aesthetics, where natural elements and contemporary design come together to inspire.

Art Suite by Bastiaan Woudt

Bastiaan Woudt is a Dutch photographer known for his striking black-and-white portraits and fine art photography. His style blends classic elegance with modern minimalism, often featuring high contrast, clean lines, and a strong focus on form and texture. The Bastiaan Woudt Suite was a special collaboration to celebrate the shared 10-year anniversaries. His work matches perfectly the marriage of old and new that defines the hotel.

Art Suite by Van Gogh

Two exclusive Van Gogh Suites in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, celebrating the Van Gogh & Japan exhibition. These suites featured art along with Van Gogh-inspired amenities such as themed pillows, teacups, and teapots as well as noteworthy quotes by Van Gogh.

Art Suite by Rembrandt

Irma Boom, a renowned Dutch graphic designer, collaborated with artist Sarah van Sonsbeeck to create the Rembrandt Suite. This unique suite was designed to commemorate the year of Rembrandt, in partnership with the Rijksmuseum. Boom used a colour palette inspired by the six hues used in Rembrandt’s The Night Watch, what she termed the painting’s “colour DNA”.

Marie Cécile Thijs plays with balance and time, creating a surreal sense of temporality by connecting the past with the present. Stillness lies at the heart of her work. Influences of 17th-century Old Masters are clearly present, yet her interpretation remains distinctly contemporary. In the world of Marie Cécile Thijs, the unusual becomes the norm. Her work added an artistic and cultural dimension to the suite, making it an ideal choice for guests who appreciated art and design.

Exhibition of Eva Crebolder

Eva Crebolder is known for her design of creative ceramic elements in buildings, including the Cartier flagship store on the PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam. The exhibition will feature sections of tiles from the boutique and a selection of her bouncing vases. Her work explores skill, shape, and texture, striking a balance between lightness and strength.

The Glass Library exhibited Inbar Hasson's b-side plate project. These plates wish to evoke empathy through confusion, embarrassment, and a pinch of black humor. Her work seeks a tension between appealing visual storytelling and a sense of discomfort and disorientation. Her art demands an active gaze from the viewer, rewarded with an emotional impact.

Mart Visser: A Sanctuary of Style and Art

Mart Visser, a Dutch fashion designer and visual artist from Sleeuwijk, is known for sculptures and paintings that explore human form and emotion. His pieces often reflect personal encounters and are created intuitively, focusing on structure, texture, and technique. Our signature Two-Bedroom Garden Suite is decorated with his distinctive artworks, including custom-designed carpets, expressive sculptures, and original paintings.

A Cultural Landmark, further enhanced by the Conservatorium Hotel

The hotel’s hallways and corridors reflect its past as a bank, with tiled panels and terrazzo floors featuring bees, flowers, and spider webs. They are symbols of saving and collecting. Around 1890, in response to mass-produced factory goods, artists embraced a new art movement with decorative motifs inspired by nature. The Rozenburg factory in The Hague, created the tiles in the corridors.

Living colour fills the gallery of Jasper Krabbe

Jasper Krabbé is a Dutch contemporary painter based in Amsterdam, who exhibits his work worldwide and stems from four generations of painters. Krabbé’s work often reflects memories of places, events and people. Not as clear images, but in a way memories usually appear: disrupted by other images and disturbances, incomplete, without logic and never unambiguous.

Mart Engelen frames the elegance of stillness

Mart Engelen is a Dutch photographer renowned for his black-and-white portraits that capture the essence of his subjects with striking clarity. He believes that colour can distract from the core of his subjects, stating, ""Black-and-white clarifies my message."" In BARBOUNIA, you can find the beautiful black and white photograph’s from Mart van Engelen. As the restaurant is inspired by the Mediterranean kitchen, the photographs on display reflect this Mediterranean ambience.

Where violins carry echoes of a musical legacy

In the hallway connecting the Van Baerlestraat entrance to the atrium, you will find a display of violins, each one beautifully handcrafted by Italian artisans. Piero Lissoni, together with stylists Alexandra and Ninon van der Sande, envisioned the idea of creating a violin arrangement above the white table. This display honours the building’s history as the former Sweelinck Conservatorium.
