Solar Heating System at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou

Responsibility for Our Planet

Heating Pump and Solar Heating Panel System

Since 2023, we have successfully implemented a heating pump and solar heating system, designed to efficiently harness solar energy, air-source energy and heat from the air-conditioning water system.

The heating pumps are strategically installed both indoors and outdoors, as well as in the equipment room. These pumps collect heat from the chilled water and the surrounding environment, thereby enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability. The two systems work in tandem to reduce natural gas consumption and carbon emissions.

Discover the luxurious and eco-conscious experience at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou, where we have introduced a new brand of in-room amenities - Typology. This eco-designed amenity range is fully aligned with the Group’s ‘Care About Earth Programme’, actively contributing to our commitment to reduce our environmental impact.

Our Typology amenities have been carefully crafted with sustainability in mind. Dermatologically tested, these formulas are free of PEG, sulfates and silicones. They are vegan, GMO-free, gluten-free certified, and contain up to 98% natural-origin ingredients. Additionally, they feature RSPO-certified soap, ensuring a pure and gentle experience for our guests while protecting the planet.

Responsibility for Our Community

Mandarin Oriental is committed to a group-wide initiative offering colleagues one day of paid leave to engage in volunteer activities. Recognising that accessibility amplifies social impact, all colleagues at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou are actively embracing this commitment. We contribute over 1,800 volunteer hours annually through a variety of charitable events, including charity runs, local farm support, visits to elderly homes, care for pet shelters and donations for impoverished rural areas.
