A Dialogue Between History and Contemporary Creativity

Housed within the former Commercial Court of Vienna, Mandarin Oriental, Vienna is home to a carefully curated art collection that reflects the city's unique cultural identity. More than 410 artworks, including 150 one-of-a-kind pieces, create a dialogue between the building’s historic past and contemporary artistic expression.

Inspired by Vienna’s legacy of innovation, craftsmanship and artistic rebellion, the collection explores the balance between order and creativity that has shaped the city for centuries.

A Collection Rooted in Vienna

Curated by internationally renowned art curator Minda Dowling in collaboration with interior designer Goddard Littlefair, the collection brings together the work of 25 contemporary artists. A significant number of the featured artists are Austrian or live and work in Austria, contributing authentic perspectives on the country’s cultural heritage and creative future.

Rather than serving as decoration, each artwork was selected to contribute to a broader narrative about Vienna, its history, its craftsmanship and its enduring spirit of reinvention.

Art as Part of the Guest Experience

The collection unfolds throughout the hotel, from public spaces to guestrooms and suites, inviting guests to discover it naturally throughout their stay. Integrated into the architecture and atmosphere of the property, the artworks offer moments of curiosity, reflection and connection.
