More about our hotel’s sustainability journey

Responsibility for Our Planet

At Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, we redefine luxury with sustainability at the core. Through bioclimatic architecture, energy-efficient design and renewable energy initiatives, we aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Earth-sheltered structures and shaded spaces help reduce energy consumption, while our zero-waste efforts include recycling initiatives and the elimination of single-use plastics. Over 2,700 olive trees and 500,000 shrubs have been replanted on-site, further enhancing the natural environment and surrounding landscape.

We kindly invite our guests to support these efforts by minimising waste, respecting local wildlife and vegetation, and showing consideration for cultural landmarks and shared spaces.

Responsibility for Our Guests

Sustainability elevates every aspect of the guest experience. Initiatives like our "Paramana Breakfast," a tray featuring locally sourced flavours, minimise food waste while celebrating Greek culinary heritage. Fresh vegetables from our Chef’s Garden and honey from our on-site beehives bring the best of the region directly to the table. Guests are encouraged to explore the resort on e-bikes, blending eco-friendly practices with immersive natural experiences.

Responsibility for Our Community

Our community commitment shines through meaningful practices and partnerships. Chefs source exceptional ingredients from Messenia, within 50 km, supporting local farmers with fresh, high-quality produce. We also collaborate with artisans, using materials that honour regional heritage. Pet fees support Navarino Pet Community, promoting animal welfare. We are guided by circular economy principles, that benefit both the environment and the region.
